PRE TRIP REPORT August 2018 $100 a day Again!

I did a dining pre trip report last year and enjoyed everyone chipping in with ideas and special offers and deals. Our holiday is almost here and i'm in food planning mode so thought I'd make a start.

This will be our 30ish trip to the USA (lost count). It's DD's 13th trip.

We are flying into Miami again. Checking in to new Aventura Hotel at Universal 17th August. We have our annual passes for Universal from last year and tickets for MNSSHP 24th.

The cast

Me Stephanie, 43, dibber and avid food trip report writer and reader. Will eat most things.

DH 43. He is with us honestly but won't have his picture on the dibb/social media. Hates mushrooms and seafood. Lover of burgers.

DD Anna 12. Just finishing yr 7. Now almost as tall as me. As you will see in our photos DD was born without her left hand but it doesn't hold her back. She is picky with simple tastes, no stuff in sauces, nothing spicy the list goes on. She is now usually eating adult not kids meals.

Will aim for $100 a day again as I do love a special offer or a coupon. Suspect will be a bit over this time as DD is eating adult meals, we shall see.

Breakfasts

We do like to go out for breakfast. DH and DD especially enjoy it and moan if they don't get a proper breakfast. With the car there are lots of places within 5 mins drive of Universal.

Denny's

Our go to day 1 breakfast. We like the one at the top of I drive near Universal.

I usually have one of the pancake breakfasts, will check website nearer the time for the latest sort as they do change. Currently they have berry banana, dulce de leche, banana cream or peanut butter. DH usually enjoys a grand slamwich.

20% off for joining email club. I'll sign up a couple of days before we go.

Keke's

This is a must do. We've eaten at both the one near Millenia mall and Dr Philips and liked both locations. This is our most expensive breakfast and never see any discounts but worth it.

I've loved both the pina colada french toast and florida pancake here. Suspect I'll stick to one of these again unless anyone can recommend something else.

First Watch

Never gets much mention on the dibb but we have been several times and always enjoy it. Usually wins awards voted for by locals. Very close to Universal/I drive on W Sandlake Road.

They do have healthier options but I have to say i'm drooling over the carrot cake pancakes again.

Joining the email club gets a very decent buy one meal get one free coupon so a saving of about $10. I'll be joining a couple of days before we go.

Ihop now Ihob

We do like ihop but are never wowed by the one at the top of I drive near Universal. May try a different one. Anyone been to the one on Kirkman Road?

They've still got the cupcake pancakes I had last time on the menu. They were lovely but super sweet.

Suspect DH will be tempted by this

They are still giving the free stack of rooty tooty pancakes for joining the email club. I've always found they will just knock the coupon off no matter what you order so a saving of $7.99. Again I'll join email club a couple of days before we go.
