There is a whole lotta stuff to be worked through. I know not everybody's cup of tea but the recent no deal papers make interesting reading and make the scale of the challenge pretty clear.

For those on this board the transatlantic flight agreements are possibly more pertinent too !

I was merely pointing out that the reason non-EU flights can fly over the EU is because they have an agreement with the EU (which currently includes us, the UK).

Currently the UK uses/benefits from the agreements put into place by the EU. Once we leave the EU we won't have, or be able to use, those agreements. You're right that it is expected that eventually a deal will be put into place. However, it takes time to set these things up. We'll see what happens in the next 6 months.

The BBC webpage I posted provided some useful analysis and wasn't particularly biased. The link simply saved me from posting the facts presented on there. Feel free to google the information yourself.

At then end of the day current passports will stay valid until they expire. It will be just like when we went from the old blue UK passports to the current EU maroon style but just in reverse.

As to flights, if UK airlines are not allowed in EU airspace then EU aircraft wont be allowed in UK airspace either and the Germans, Dutch, and French certainly don't want to lose all the connecting traffic they currently get from the UK.

There won't be passport problems per se but the cost of visiting Europe with the need of an ETAIS application may apply to the UK
I don’t see it as particularly awkward to fill something in like an esta that takes minutes.

From the ESTA threads we have on the dibb it can be very awkward. However one point to make is that so far

We may have a new ESTA to complete

We will need 6 months on our passports just to go to France.

Our passports will no longer be able to have months carried forward which in reality will shorten the real length of the passport as they will need to be renewed to ensure the 6 months left.

We will need an international driving license.

I was under the impression that people wanted less EU interference in their lives rather than more.

Other than the passport thing we really do not know the answers to the others. I can’t waste energy bothering about what might happen.

The point is that the Government works for us and if we don't make our voices heard then they will just go off and do whatever they want. If we don't let them know our unhappiness they will just go rolling on.

I agree that we need to make our voices heard. Unfortunately with the major parties falling apart right now I don’t see us being represented as we deserve. I would write to my MP but she doesn’t care about anything unless it puts her in a good light. Maybe time for a dibb petition to tell them to get their acts together and sort something?

I don’t want to go back to the bad old days of having to get a car insurance green card - at additional cost. It was an internationally recognised statement to show you had basic insurance. At the moment all policies issued in EU automatically have this cover so no need for anything else. I also don’t want to lose my EHIC and free roaming.
Unless the negotiators get their fingers out, driving in France is likely to become more bureaucratic and expensive . Bloomin’ marvellous.

They potentially won't agree as they can't agree a price, that's the bottom line in reality. Will it happen? Probably not but it could.
