Ripping DVD's to Amazon Fire tablet - advice please!

Hi all

DW and I have recently purchased Amazon Fire's and we are pleased with them and plan on taking to Florida later this month.

We have lots of DVD's and wonder if it is possible to rip these and then save them onto the Fire to watch? If so, could some kind Dibbers give us some advice on how best to do this?

Many thanks!

Kev

I haven't done this for years. First you have to rip the dvd to your computer. then convert it to Kindle format. I think I used handbrake for that. Its a free program . Google should find it.

yep. dvdshrink to rip/decss the disc to a file, then handbrake to convert to mp4

then install either kodi or VLC on the tablet to play them (I prefer kodi)

I don't have a Kindle Fire, I have an iPad.

I've used DVD-to-MP4 Converter (I think it's called that?) in the past. I don't have my home laptop to check the name at the moment. This rips a DVD and converts it to MP4 (or a variety of other formats) all in one go - so no need for separate programs to do each. It's pretty straight forward as well.

If converting to MP4 it should work just as well on your Kindle if you have an app that plays MP4s.
