Mobile Cruise from San Juan

Hi, we won’t be booking our next cruise until this next time next year. Been looking at the itineraries and quite like those sailing from San Juan.

Does anyone have any experience of cruising from there? I know one lad from work that certainly did not like San Juan.

Thanks 😄

We did two one week cruises b2b from San Juan a few years ago on Princess but I don’t think they sail from there now. We stayed two nights pre cruise at the Marriott resort and casino which we got quite cheaply on Priceline. Taxis from the airport and to the cruise terminal were easy and cheap. We booked flights to San Juan via Miami and they were fine.
We like San Juan old town, it’s very pretty and atmospheric - we’ve been four or five times as a cruise stop.
The first week of the cruise was fine but the second week was the last of the season and Princess had sold cabins off really cheaply to local Puerto Rican families (like $199pp) consequently it was very busy and rowdy, not our cup of tea.

We have twice sailed with Disney on Southern Caribbean and then back to back to Port Canaveral from San Juan.
Flew in the night before and stayed in the hotel which is right on the airport.
Have booked again for January/ February doing the same thing 2019.

Thanks both for that. We’ve done the eastern and western 3 times now in total and like the look of the southern itinerary. Be our first without the kids so can start looking out with school hols.

I did the b2b DCL Southern out of PR in Jan this year.
I flew to MCO and spent 4 days there then took a flight from there to Puerto Rico and stayed there 3 nights before boarding The Wonder.
I stayed in a Sheraton overlooking the port. It was lovely. We swam, ate and shopped. The weather was a bit unpredictable with heavy showers but overall I had a blast.
