I had mine last Saturday and my arm was a bit achy for a couple of days.
I chose to have it as I was sick sick earlier in the year with Aussie flu, septic tonsillitis and then 2 chest infections. I am medically exempt from prescriptions anyway so I was sure whether I would pay or not. TBH I didn’t mind either way, however the pharmacist stated as I was asthmatic I was covered under one of the free categories anyway. I’ve never had flu before and floored me for weeks.

I ad mine 5 weeks ago at the same time as my daughter and we have both been poorly since.
The same happened to me a couple of years ago too but I was ok with it last year. When I was ill a few years ago I ended up on an inhaler for months as my airways had become so irritated. Some say there's no connection but I do wonder !

The same criteria for free flu jabs is used by doctors and pharmacists so if you can’t get an appointment at the GP it might be worth contacting your local pharmacy.
The flu vaccination is an inactive vaccine so it cannot cause flu. Any links are coincidence due to being exposed to the cold/flu virus prior to the vaccine being given. |

If you are "brewing" something before the vaccine it can hit you a little harder because your body has 2 things to fight against - vaccines challenge the body's immune system, putting it under stress. So it can seem like you have a new cold even though it was already a light cold before the jab.
This is why they recommend no jab if you have a fever - some doctors/nurses will also delay if you just have a cold - because people blame the jab for it developing. |
