An overnight wait on the way out might be favourable as a way to start to get through the jet lag. I do remember cheap Man - Miami tickets with a short stop last year.
I suppose it comes down to balancing out the longer journey with a sizeable saving.

Deal booked today with BA. Abdn-LHR transfer to LGW-MCO return in July for 18 nights £1200 for 4 people. Can put up with having to change airport for that price!
