Glasgow - restaurant
We are staying overnight in Glasgow for a concert at the armadillo in November. Hotel is premier inn, Buchanan galleries.
Looking for somewhere to have a meal beforehand. We always end up in a chain restaurant like Hard Rock, TGIs, Cafe Andaluz etc. We aren’t fussy eaters but probably no seafood. Any recommendations/hidden gems? |

Elia is fantastic, we were at Darius Rucker last night and ate in Topolabamba Mexican tapas. Been there many times and the food is fantastic. You will have absolutely no shortage of food there. There is even a Five Guys in the city centre and I must admit I find their burgers as good as over in USA.

If you like burgers then Bread Meats Bread on St Vincent St is the best burger in Glasgow. Other than that Topolabamba is nice mexican food, Bucks Bar is decent fried chicken, Smoke is good barbeque food and La Vita on George's Square is probably my favourite italian in town.

There are a few on the Finnieston part of Argyle Street (miles from the Argyle Street near where you are staying). Villa Toscana and Panevino are Italian. The Gannet gets a very good name, also Crabshakk and Finn Market. The Finnieston for fish and chips. All are incredibly busy when there is a concert at the Armadillo or Hydro so need booking.
Number 2 First bus towards Faifley from Hope Street (any Glaswegian that you approach on a bus will put you off at the right stop - We are like that!) Or train from Argyle St Station or Central low level platform 17, getting off at Exhibition Centre.
