Yep my son learnt the ukulele about 6 years ago at school. His class entered a local music competition with a George Formby song and they won!

I used to love playing the recorder and I can still play 3 blind mice and when I’m 64. I didn’t learn any more sadly as my recorder “ went missing”.

Recorder sparked my interest in playing a musical instrument and now I have a music degree and I’m Head of Creative Arts in a secondary school.

Learning a musical instrument is a fantastic skill - you may as well say ‘what good does it do’ doing art/ PE etc. Everything has its place in a broad and balanced curriculum and creative subjects can be a life line to a lot of students.

I’ve never used a quadratic equation in ‘real life’ (or analysed a poem / needed the periodic table either) ... #justsayin ...

Pity you cant put like times two. I have been trying to formulate an answer but couldn't. This sums it up perfectly
