Avis Upgrade or Swap aisle at SFO?

Does anyone know if there is an Avis Upgrade or Swap aisle in SFO? Been quoted over £800 by BA to upgrade our car to a Ford Explorer so not sure if its worth waiting until we arrive to upgrade

You mean the "Select and Go" aisle? Yes, there's one at SFO but be aware that the selection is usually pretty underwhelming. You might be better off trying to get an upgrade once you are there.

Yes that’s the one! I think you’re right we’ll give it a go once we’re at the airport, I didn’t even pay £800 for a Chevy Tahoe last year so am certainly not paying that to upgrade beforehand. Just got back from Vegas and we asked nicely about upgrading from our prebooked Ford Escape and got given a lovely Ford Mustang V8 so hopefully a polite request will work again!

£800 !

I wouldn’t bother .. we’ve never paid Avis for a upgrade , last Oct we had booked a people carrier but couldn’t get all the stuff in ( we had a big pram etc with us ) and I just asked if we could have a full size SUV as it suited better and they said yes .

I arrived at LAX last night we had a Ford Escape or similar booked as it only 3 adults and the baby this time , but we were struggling to get the luggage in the boot of the Dodge Journey and they told us to go pick any full size SUV or minivan that suited better

I find Avis to be very helpful

I know right!
Yes we have used Avis a fair few times now and they’ve always been helpful but not sure if we’ve just been lucky so good to know you’ve had the same. I’ve never flown to SFO before so hoping for the same service, we’ve booked a VW Jetta so will be a fairly uncomfortable 3 weeks if we don’t upgrade 😉
Have a fab holiday, it’s flipping raining here!
