I tried to search it and couldn't find any information regarding an age limit either. Not many places accept them anymore. If it's for kids maybe prepaid cards or Disney/Universal gift cards would be an option for spending money?

When I googled it this came up:

'Yes, you can still use travelers checks, but few businesses will accept them, and I would not expect any staff under the age of 40 to even know what they are. You will likely end up taking them to a bank to have them exchanged for cash. A prepaid debit card would be arguably no less secure, and more convenient.6 Jan 2015'

Don’t know about age but we had no problems changing ours at parks. I love my travellers cheques! I do find some shops and restaurants don’t so probably wouldn’t rely on them but it’d change them when I’d ran out of cash at the hotel reception which was no problem either.

Thanks for replies. We love a mix of cash /travellers cheques & credit card. We have tried a prepaid card a few years back and not keen on it. Strange I can't seem to find any info on age limit, there must be one.. if its 16 we are fine if 18 we may have to put them in just in DD's name ... that will go down well with DS

They could also sign up for a starling bank account and transfer money into that to use in the USA.
