One week in Florida. Is it worth it

We’ve been talking about taking our children to Florida for some time, and had made a decision to book a two week stay in 2021. For this year we would book a week in Europe for the last week of August. However, after going off on a tangent, I’ve seen flights, car and Villa/self catering accommodation for £2500/2800 ish, cheaper if I went diy. Dates are 28th Oct-4th November 2019
Of course we wouldn’t do all the parks, maybe beach, shopping and park or 2 or maybe KSC. Is it worth the haul to get there for one week? I’m very keen, but I could be being blinded by my excitement

I dont personally class florida as long haul, so yes i would go for a week, we did Law Vegas for 4 nights the other month, also done Carribean too for 7 nights..

I would say though... If its your first trip, don't do 7 nights, you need longer to explore etc... 7 nights is good as an interim trip between main trips in my opinion

A week is fine if you don’t set your sights on doing much in the parks. We did a week last year having been loads of times and it was nowhere near enough doing even just Disney.

We still plan to do the ‘big event’ in 2021. This seemed to good to pass up, even if we bypassed parks completely and just did beach days. August in Europe self catering is £3k min.
But I get what you’re saying re the length of the journey, it’s not horrid in terms of time

Would the week in 2019 affect the trip in 2021 ? My first thought would be to go in 2020. It could be booked fairly soon and you could start planning straight away.
If I were to go for a week I would choose Disney/ Universal or the Seaworld parks but just stick to one of them. Otherwise the ticket costs could be prohibitive and you just wouldn’t have time to do all you have suggested.
I also think the age of the children would be a consideration if travelling such a long way for a week, do you have a long journey to the airport ?
Ultimately it is your decision but just because a week is cheaper it does not necessarily make it better value.

We did a week in November last year but bought an annual when we were there in June so we did a chilled Pre Christmas trip only went to the Parks in the afternoons it was a really nice trip and it was nice to get some sun for a week. So if you can get a good deal go for it.

I did 6 days just after Xmas and was cheaper than a week in canaries. But I have done the 2 week stints before at the parks so this trip we did universal 2days and trips out remaining days.
Alot will depend on your kids ages what you can do in a week and where.
Is it school half term that week?

Yes of course as it’s Florida
I like you have been pricing hols to Europe but for next summer and it’s cheaper for me to go to a Orlando. We are having a no parks trip in April and I can’t wait there is so much to do!

I'm keen on a no parks trip to Orlando when the kids are no longer in tow. Lol

I am intrigued as to where you have found a weeks trip in October half term for this price.
