Yes we looked at that but it was about $260 each last time I checked. You would still pay for the little one as I think its under 2, so for 5 it would cost a fortune! Or for me it is! I thought that was what the OP meant when she said helicopter tour? as I dont know that there is one to the south rim is there?

No smoky casinos which we found quite hard when staying to big hotels, walking through them.
Yes I forgot about Polo. We stay at Carriage House which are suites and lovely but a small pool. How is the Polo pool?

That one isn't helicopter so was cheaper.
(Although our 4x4 got a puncture and rather than change the wheel they helicoptered us back to the ranch as we were on our way back ... which was a bit of a bonus , My then twelve year old was thrilled)

No the one we looked at was a small plane not helicopter, but still $260 each. How long ago did you do it and who did you use? Thanks.

You can manage without a car but i never would do Vegas without one .

I was in Vegas last week again and a car makes life so much easier , I’d much rather go by car to the south rim than bus . We did the drive as it happens and at least in a car yoh can stop where you like which with kids would be a must for me .

A 3 yr old on a bus for such a long day seems a nightmare tell me . We had a 6 month old this time and it was fine , she slept a lot in her car seat but we stopped at the hoover dam , Silegman and a few services stations to get her out

My kids likes NyNy? Tropicana and planet Hollywood on the strip ,
Flamingo I’ve been to 3 times but it’s very tired , I thought the public areas were scruffy and dirty last week

These days we stop off strip at south point , I did have a quick look at New Orleans and that looks nice .

Try Embassy Suites, Swenson St. Shuttle bus to strip. Uber an easy option. Big pool. Big breakfast included. All rooms are suites.

Like DB I would not be in a Vegas without a car sure I dont use it for a few days sometime but its there, little things like driving out at night to look back on the strip, that trip to Walmart, the outlets etc.

I woudl stay at Orleans but certainly not without a car if you dont have a car you should be on the strip South of TI.

To do the south rim any justice you need to have at least 5-6 hours at the rim itself. It takes 3-4 hours just to do one of the 3 loops. That's without doing a sunset or sunrise which are highly recommended.

Both the bus out and the flights do not give you anywhere near that amount of time.

If you are absolutely time constrained then fair enough.

West Rim is not as "grand" but is only 3 hours by car and the helicopters can go direct from there. We have done an overnight at the south rim and helicopter landing to the west rim. You also don't need as much time to spend there.

Personally if you are time constrained but there is a chance you will be back in the future, then I would save the South Rim until you can do it properly and spend a night there. I'd maybe do the West Rim, especially if I could do the helicopter experience.

We wouldn't be without a car in Vegas, but they we do more off strip than on it.

On the cost of flying to South Rim, you are looking at $150+ for a flight over the South Rim without landing, $200+ to fly and land at the West Rim, $250+ for a flight and to land at the South Rim.

Helicopter over the West Rim is $175+ and with a landing it is $300+
