Neither of us were particularly hungry when we arrived, so we decided to have a walk around and if we could try to have a drink somewhere to build up an appetite.

We had completely forgotten it was a Saturday evening and Disney springs was absolutely heaving!

With no luck getting a drink we carried on walking around coming across Gideon’s.

When we joined the line one cast member told us it would be 45 and another told us 55, but in reality we only queued for 25 minutes and it was quite a pleasant queue as there was live music at Raglan Road.

We were given September’s menu whilst we queued -

Once we got inside there was an overwhelming smell of sweetness, but once you got used to it, it was ok.

Some photos of the inside -

We ordered a peanut butter cookie and a chocolate chip one.

I can’t find the receipt but we paid with our dining credit and I think it was just over $12 for the two. I will include them in the report when we eat them.

By the time was came out it was raining again and there was the most spectacular sky with thunder and lightning. After checking the weather app it said we were due 7mm of rain so we decided to head back to the resort and either pick dinner up in our quick service or order Uber eats.

It took quite a while to get back to the resort as a POFQ bus had broken down with passengers on it leaving Disney springs so they unloaded onto the bus that came for us and we had to wait for another.

By the time we got back we decided to eat at the hotel.

Day chose the beef in gravy with mash and green beans and I had chicken sandwich and fries.

The amount of fries I had was ridiculous! I shared more than half with DH so that he could mop up his gravy.

He really enjoyed his dinner, stating it was like comfort food.

My chicken sandwich was ok, it wasn’t going to win any awards but filled a (small) hole.

Total came to $29.27.

We headed back to the room and it was around 10pm so we watched some tv in bed as we had to be up for Keys to the Kingdom on day 7.

Thanks for reading!
We were there Saturday morning before our flight home the queue for Gideon’s was long, so your wait wasn’t that bad
Did you like them, I prefer a Num Num 🙈

Day 7, part 2

We were heading to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. We had a $50 gift card plus $10 bonus card to use which I’d bought in a special sale leading up to the trip.

I decided to sign up to their club so that we could book a table. The earliest time we could get was 8.30pm at Vineland. That was no issue as it meant we had time to get hungry (not something that happens very often on this trip) and we could take a look in the shops nearby.

We left the hotel at 6.45pm and parked up at the shops opposite the restaurant.

We spent until 8.10pm looking in Ross Dress for Less, Marshalls and Burlington.

I picked up a beautiful satin Joie dress from Marshalls for just $34.99. I’m pretty sure it would retail for around $200 so was a steel and will be perfect for a wedding reception we’re going to 5 days before Christmas.

Anyway, back to the cheesecake factory…

When we walked in at 8.15pm there were hoards of people waiting to be seated. It was throwing it down outside so they were all inside seeking shelter.

We went to the desk and told them we had a reservation and were seated in a booth for 2 straight away.

I did photograph the menu which I’ll include but not sure how clearly you will be able to see it -

We had an efficient waiter who quickly took our drinks order, brought us water and bread.

DH ordered a blue moon and I had a strawberry lemonade.

During the meal, DH had another beer. The mix of lemonade and water lasted me.

We never had the bread last time we came here as our server forgot to bring it out. I loved the brown coloured bread. DH thought that there was a hint of cocoa in it, but we agreed it tasted a little like malt loaf. Absolutely delicious.

I’d seen on a food report someone talking about bang bang cauliflower as a starter (or at least that’s what I had written in my notes). I’m sorry I can’t remember who it was. Anyway, we looked for that on the menu, but couldn’t find it. The closest thing we would find was Korean Fried Cauliflower so we ordered that to share.

OMG let me tell you, that this was absolutely delicious! It’s the best thing we have eaten since being here. The batter wasn’t too thick, the cauliflower was cooked to perfection, the sauce had quite a kick to it but the sour cream type dip that came with it cooled it down perfectly. I would highly recommend you try this!

For mains, DH was initially going to have the Korean Fried chicken but when he realised it would be the same as the starter (before the starter arrived) he changed it to bang bang chicken and shrimp with white rice.

As with the cheesecake factory meals, the portions were huge!

He said this had a strong peanut and coconut flavour which he enjoyed.

I went for the orange chicken with white rice.

Again it was lovely, the batter was perfect and the veggies were a treat. My only small criticism is that I would have liked more sauce.

Total for both meals $90.37 so with $60 off it was $30.37 and we left 20% tip of $18.07.

When we read the small print of the $10 bonus card we couldn’t use it in conjunction with the free slice of cheesecake so we decided the $10 was better use than the free slice (controversial maybe!) but we have the voucher if we decide to go back.

I think this was our favourite meal of the trip so far.

Unfortunately we didn’t end up going to Disney Springs. As we had a late reservation it was getting on by the time we left and I’ve sadly come down with a cold so have a cough and runny nose.

I’m hoping and praying it’s not Covid, and just a head cold.

Today is Monday (day 8) and the plan is breakfast out, pop to Walmart to pick up some sort of small birthday cake (I’m 40 tomorrow!) then we have LLMP booked in Hollywood Studios from 1.30pm. It will be our first time riding ROTR so I’m excited for that. The plan is to stay for Fantasmic, hopefully I’ll feel well enough for that.

Thanks for reading and to those who also comment, I appreciate it!

Have a great day everyone and happy new week!

We haven’t tried the Oreo’s yet, but they do look delicious!

Thanks for the recommendation for Salt and Straw… we never made it to DS last night but I still really want to try it. Hopefully in the next few days!

Enjoy the cheesecake factory and I hope you make it to DS later.
It was really great! A real highlight of our trip. DH loves anything peanut butter, I’m not very keen. Cheesecake factory was delicious!

It’s not the best cookies I’ve eaten, I prefer the ones I had from Animal Kingdom. We’re off to Hollywood Studios today so we may pick up a Num Num.

Literally yesterday, I decided to sign up for a Cheesecake Factory account so I can prebook when I go in January. I failed at the first hurdle as it wanted a mobile phone number and seemed to be in a US format and I couldn’t get any further.

We had our eyes on that Korean cauliflower when we made our first visit five years ago, I have had to remind myself what we thought. Not so much of a hit for us according to my review here.

I’m not a Star Wars fan, have never watched the films but DH has and I’ve heard what a great ride ROTR is so I’m excited for it. I’ve never seen Fantasmic, but again heard great things!

Thanks for reading and commenting!

We signed up to an eSim which gave us a US number. It’s been the best £20 we have spent.

I’ll take a look at your review now.

Yes my DH loved it. I’m not the biggest cheesecake fan… DH likes it but we have some snacks in the room so felt the $10 was better used. I’m going to pick up some drugs from Walmart this morning and dose myself up ready for tomorrow. Hope you have some nice plans!

Just read your report - the cauliflower was definitely more spicy than sweet. Maybe they have tweaked the menu since 2019… one to try again maybe?
