Changing digital photos

I’ve got some ‘portrait’ style that I want in ‘landscape’ and vice versa.

Is it possible to change the orientation without getting the faces squashed or stretched please, and how could I do it ?

You can do it as long as you don't mind losing a huge chunk of the top and bottom of the photos.
You can download something like GIMP or Paint.NET, or use Picassa

You basically have 3 options, example below is from landscape to portrait.

A. Is what you are trying to avoid, so things get stretched or squashed to fit.
B. You retain the height but lose details to the left and right
C. You keep all the detail but end up with white space top and bottom.

If you go from portrait to landscape, it's either lose details from top and/or bottom, or end up with white space left and right.

It'll really depend on the photo what parts you try to keep.

So basically you copy the parts of the picture you want to retain to fit the new format, any decent, even basic, software will allow you to do it.

Picasa will do this easily. It’s officially discontinued but easy to find to download.

Of the 3 above option 2 is the only one I would consider acceptable but it depends on the content of your photo.
