Gatwick to Heathrow

We arrive into Gatwick from Tampa on Mon 15th July due to land at 7.30am. Our flight from Heathrow to Glasgow is 11.50am. We looked into amending to a later flight but it was �150pp and no option from Gatwick until 9.30pm!
I have looked into the National Express bus for 2a and 2c- there is one at 9.05am which would be �48 for us (cheapest fare but up to �68 at other times). If we miss this or are earlier we would have to amend ticket and pay extra.
My question would be what time do you think we would be through into arrivals and would a private taxi transfer be easier/ similar price and what company do you recommend.

To gt an idea of price BAtransfer online price is 62 for a car, 67 for an estate car. I know a few people have used them, but I have not. But good to give you an idea of price. That was south terminal to T5 at LHR.

Flights often get in early on way home and would expect you to be through with bags within the hour.
