We are planning to go with the QSDP when we go in May 2020. We are first timers 😊 Will we need to be using one of our QS credits for breakfast or do we also get free breakfast included?

With QSDP you get two quick service meals and two snack credits per day plus a refillable resort mug. How you use the credits is up to you. The credits for meals can be used for breakfast, lunch or dinner at quick service restaurants. You won't get a free breakfast as well.

You can use your QS credits for any meal of the day. Last year we usually used a snack credit for breakfast (e.g a pastry or muffin) and spent the QS credits on lunch or dinner. At any resort you can use your refillable mug for a tea or coffee with breakfast. If buying a meal in a Disney resort hotel you will also get an extra snack credit as you won't need to buy a drink with your meal. Hope that makes sense! Basically the credits are really flexible and you can use them when you like.

The breakfasts are really big - you will probably only need to use 1 or 2 meal credits for breakfast and share - one day we all ordered a meal each and ended up with 12 pancakes - 3 sides and 3 drinks between the 3 of us! You will learn as you go along but theres loads of food on the QSDP.

No, unfortunately you don't get free breakfast as well.

You'll get 2 QS credits and 2 snack credits per person per day. You can use these for any meals you want.

We often found that we'd share 2 QS meals between 3 of us, so that covered us for three meals a day. Or you can use a snack credit for a smaller breakfast.

Disney Dining Plans are incredibly flexible and if you haven't been before its quite difficult to get your head around it.

For Quick Service, as mentioned above each member of your party gets 2 Quick Service Meal credits and 2 Snack Credits per day of the holiday. These are pooled together and you can use more or less per day as you wish and share meals etc to stretch them out.

You can use your credits for any meal be it Breakfast, Dinner or Lunch and as has previously been mentioned the snack credits actually go quite a long way too as you can use these to get a pastry or something similar which is good for breakfast.

Worth having a good read up over the Guidebook etc and planning where you want to try at each park as there are some really good and different QS locations to vary your meals.

It might help you to have a look at some qsdp food reports to get an idea of the sort of things available and how people use their credits. You'll get lots of inspiration for things to try too and get a better understanding of just how flexible it is.
I wrote one in 2017 and there are a couple of recent ones too:

That should keep you busy for a few hours. Happy reading

You can always use a snack credit for breakfast. I sometimes had a cinammon bun or pastry for brekkie and sometimes had porridge (oatmeal) out there. Toast was cheaper to buy out of pocket. I think it was only about $1 fr 2 slices of bread. You toast it yourself and then add spreads/jam etc.

What you can do for your breakfasts rather than using a whole meal credit is save your desserts, like the muffins or cookies etc and have them as a quick breakfast in room or while travelling to park then have an early lunch using a meal credit, snack in afternoon meal at night and still have a snack credit left over

There are no desserts with the QSDP any more - 2016 was the last year that included them. So, this will only work if you have 1 meal a day at your resort and use your refillable mug for the drink and swap the included drink for a snack. However, now that alcoholic drinks are included with QS meals, that might not be quite as popular. Also, since CBR reopened, they introduced allow swapping of drinks for snack items there
