The rides are certainly quieter than a week or so before. We are there this year a HRH 23 Aug for 8 days and will make the most of the the express passes as we have done previous trips. Some rides will save you 10 minutes, some will save you 30/40 if not more. Really depends on how long you are willing to wait. If you have lots of days at Universal then perhaps not. If you only have a few then yes I would.

I only travel off peak season but I still would not want to be without express pass, I think it saves hours of queuing time every day. I have spent nearly twenty full days at Universal in total and have rarely been able to walk onto (or get on within ten minutes) anything.

We are going 29 August for 11 nights and we have booked fast passes. We change them when we are there if needed.

Different thing, fast passes are for Disney and are free. The express pass relate to Universal and has a cost attached, either for the pass itself or for an upgraded hotel.

Don’t bother and save your cash. It will be busy on a Saturday and quiet the other days. In fact, it doesn’t get much quieter!

Not at the end of August. The express lines can be busier than the normal free lines

I have been at other off peak times of the year and this has never been the case. Why does it happen in August?

There can be more people in the Express queue if rides are really quiet but you would still get on the ride quicker. If Express has more people in the queue they just hold up the main queue and let Express through.

We always go in August as we are tied to the school holidays (except this year we went in June and it was busier) and Express is still worth having. The headline rides still have big queues. As per second post, it still saves a lot of time.

Because end of August and September is the quietest time. Sunday evenings (after 4pm) all rides were walk on including the Harry Potter stuff. Monday’s empty. If money is no object, book a room at RPR, it’s around £250 but if money is tight don’t bother
