Does anyone know how travel insurance companies split out costs? the reason I ask is that we paid for a package that wasn't broken out (£6k for 5 of us, flights, accom and carhire.) if we still travel, will he simply be refunded his share (a fifth) of the expense, or will I need a cost breakdown, and they will only pay the bits he doesn't use ie. the flight as we will still use accom and car hire for us?

Sorry for all the questions, as you can imagine... quite panicked around here at the moment!
I think to get the correct answer you need to discuss with your travel insurance company.

Hope you get sorted.

Sorry to hear this, my DD ended up in hospital last year and wasn't discharged until the afternoon of the day we would have flown in the morning. Claim would have been slightly different as we cancelled all parties going as she is a minor. Fortunately we had pretty much everything refunded directly so no point in claiming as the excess would have been higher than the amount not refunded.

Usually you will only get refunded for costs which are wholly to be used by the individual (e.g. Flight). Anything shared like a transfer, parking, villa that you will still use regardless do not get reimbursed. But each case is different so you will need to speak to your insurer.

Hi all,

Decision has been made that father in law is not coming. He’s still in hospital, and won’t get a fit to fly.
Tough decision, but probably the right one.

One last question, do I need to tell Disney to change all our ADR’s for 4 now instead of 5?

You can just go onto your dining reservations and edit them for 4. If you do that at least you are freeing up a seat I. The restaurant for someone else. Sorry to hear your bad news.
