When we flew PE we took out lightweight folding holdalls. They took up no more space than a tshirt in our cases going out and cost around £3 in Ikea. Filled them with clothes and other soft items on the way back to save suitcase space for heavier and more fragile items.

So if we wanted to bring back an extra case from MCO we can only pay for this at either online checkin for return flight or at the airport, so therefore we have to 100$. Can you no longer precook an extra case being brought back.

We flew back last week and my case was 23.6kg and I was told that they allow up to 24kg but charge above that.

MCO are very hot on overweight luggage - they generally allow 23kg +1kg. Someone next to me last month had to repack.

This can never be guaranteed though - flying back from Toronto yesterday with Air Canada and 0.30 kg over and it was either remove something or pay can$100 ! We had checked both bags with digital scales but obviously not 100% accurate and while other bag was under it had already gone through. Rather than cause a big argument just removed a pair of shoes and put in bag with jackets so really pointless as still went on plane. Proves though that not airlines will allow anything over agreed weight and lesson learnt for me to ensure bags 1kg under when using digital scales.

Bang on point that sometimes it can be a problem even being slightly over. Best thing you can do if you are close is to check weigh the bags on the scales at an empty check in desk and if any bag is on the limit put it up first or if it is a wee bit over just fess up and see if to they want you to move any items.
