My DH runs a sandwich shop in the NW and it’s incredibly popular. I couldn’t bring myself to touch it (don’t mind a bit of corned beef a couple of times a year) but if there are any leftovers the dog loves it 😂

Hate it; remember spam fritters at school 🤢

It is massively popular in California & Hawaii!
My friend in California says she can’t believe how popular it is as her memories are also of UK school dinner spam 🤮
Can’t forget seeing a huge section in a California supermarket with a vast selection of different flavours; Pumpkin Spice Spam, anyone? 🤣🤣
Saw a Californian TV ad singing the praises of Spam tacos 😳
Even on the breakfast menu in Hawaiian branches of McDonalds & Burger King 😂😂

As another poster mentioned it's like the national food of Hawaii , I think I saw it on Guy Fieri's show there are restaurants and even a Spam festival

I haven't had true Spam in years , but we did buy a smoked Spam in Walmart a couple of years ago , it was dreadful.

Love crispy fried spam! Only actual spam though, not the cheaper alternatives as they’re mechanically refined. My mum watched a documentary in it years ago, and told me all about it. Put me off for life!

It can be so expensive to buy from supermarkets though. Our local ASDA charges almost £3 for a large tin!

Do you eat spam?
Not since the 60’s... when my aunty force fed us with it. No thanks.

Can’t beat a corned beef sandwich with brown sauce though.

If I remember rightly, you're not that far from me. I love a good sandwich shop, so please let me know which one by DM if you don't mind? My actual home town is running low on them at the minute

In the 70’s & 80’s everything my mum made came out if a tin! Tinned spam, tinned ham that was covered in jelly, tinned corned beef, tinned stewed steak, tinned spaghetti bog, beef ravioli. No wonder I went vegetarian for 11 years! She also used smash & tinned new potatoes & tinned peas & carrots (not all at once) she was only 18 when she was thrown into motherhood bless.
To be fair I don’t remember what any of them taste like but I would not buy it.
