I remember we did a mug that my daughter painted and then she talked into it- it still works now and shes 16! The mugs were painted etc when she was 2- both sets of grandparents loved them.

You could maybe visit a paint your own pottery place and decorate something for them. Or a digital photoframe you can update regularly that they can see what you up to.
Anything personalised is great, some of my best gifts are decorations made at playgroup/nursery etc. Pintrest has loads of ideas. X

We do a calendar every year for my parents and they love them! They have kept them all and it is lovely to look back at how the children have changed year on year.

I used to make my Nana a hamper box, and fill it with all the daft little things she loved but wouldn’t buy (well, my Aunt who did her shopping wouldn’t buy!). She loved it, as she couldn’t get to the shops herself, so had a secret treat supply to keep her going.

If they are younger grandparents, that might not suit.

During lockdown, my lovely sister in law made both me and my parents scrapbooks of our adventures with the kids. It was loads of photos printed free from an app, glued into these brown scrapbooks from Amazon, that were hardbacked for protection. She wrote lovely things by each photo (eg, I can’t wait for more adventures at this beach with you) and the kids decorated them themselves. They then left half the book intentionally blank, for me to record future memories with them. We’re all really close, so to say it had me balling is an understatement.

Honestly, it’s my most treasured possession

Every year mum is given a calendar with photos of the great grandchildren. It's always her favourite present.

Another vote for calendar. We did the first one the year our son was born and all the elderly relatives absolutely loved them. They started to put a request in coming up to Christmas that they hoped we’d do one again, and we always have although the numbers have reduced as relatives passed away. The front is always a picture of DH with me and our son. I try as much as possible to line up the pictures with the month they were taken the year previous. I always did one for us too, which I have kept! We still do one - just for us and mil as she is the only one left. DS is now 22 so there are more pictures of DH / DH with me (as its for his Mum) but we have still managed some with DS. And there is one of three of us on front! Just done the 2021 version!
