Do you check your bills?
We've had issues with BT both for home and business. They keep charging us for things never requested.
This morning they have refunded £80 as they were charging us twice for call plans. With the business account ridiculous charges for "security" never requested. It's all time and effort and it can't just be us! |

Yes I do but never used to. I have also been charged extra with BT in the past. I also scan my receipts on leaving supermarkets - I have lost count of the times I have been charged wrongly. It’s usually on offers that they advertise and then don’t apply it. I was overcharged just last week by M&S for wine which should have been free in the dine in deal but wasn’t. When I went back I was told it was probably because it was a new wine they had not offered before and I dread to think how many people across the country were wrongly charged.

Always. Even before we were in financial difficulty. I know where every penny is.

Always and challenge often - even for a pound or 2 as many a mickle makes a muckle my Scottish Grannie would say and I remember it well. Even last month I challenged my Sky bill as I didnt have internet for a nearly 24hrs got a refund pus 2X£5 off next bill as they blamed BT Openreach and I reminded them, firmly but polity, my contract was with Sky not BT so they should claim form them.

For things like phone bills - I don't bother checking as long as the amount is what I expect it to be as it is usually the exact same amount every month. If it is higher/lower then I will check for specifics as to why so.
For credit card bills I tend to just scan them to make sure there hasn't been anything unexpected on it. My bank sends me a text every time my card gets charged so I usually have already checked the charges at point of purchase, checking the bill itself is just to make sure nothing strange is going on.

Exactly like us. Firstly as proof that we didn't nick it and secondly, as you do, to log it in our accounting software.

I check every bill and every receipt.
Plus I check my Online Banking and Credit Card Accounts every morning to ensure I haven't been robbed. I keep Excel lists of expenditure. Thats how I know how much I spent and on what.
