Virgin Atlantic flight number changed & now indirect

Hi, I received notification today of a schedule change, my VA direct flight from Manchester to LA on 11th October has changed, leaving 7 hours earlier & flying via Amsterdam.
The flight number has changed so am I entitled to a refund now?

This would be classed as a major schedule change, even for Virgin therefore you are entitled to a refund
However a word of warning. Although the Law stated you should get a refund within 7 days, Virgin are paying little attention to this and taking in the region of 120 days to process them .

I would Whats app as that way you have an evidence trail you can transfer to a Word document if you need to provide evidence to your Credit Card Co for a charge back.

You’ll struggle to get hold. Looks like they’ve done a rescue deal and may start paying some back but they have been incredibly slow. Thus you may need to go down the chargeback/ S75 route. You should do the groundwork now.

This means sending a WhatsApp, Facebook message, email etc and calling (I recorded my call) and keep all the evidence of trying to get a refund.

Your messages basically say this is clearly a major change, and you’d like a full refund in accordance with Art 261/2004. I’d actually say this is due in 7 days also and if a refund is not processed promptly you will ask for a chargeback / S75. This ‘might’ get them moving a little quicker.

I’d probably give it a month which is 4x the legal obligation to refund then go to your credit card company- hopefully won’t be necessary as that can be a whole new battle.

Ok, I'll go via whatsapp, didnt know I coul copy to word, will look at that. I've experience with section 75 from last year with Thomas Cook, but hopefully wont need that yet!

I only know it could go on Word as my Daughter who is an Engineer sorted it for me! All beyond my skills.

haha thanks Tom, I tested it out & mangaged to export via email so that will do as proof of conversation, now to ask for the refund!
