When we are all electric powered will we see the demise of "road tax" 🙄.
I doubt it.

Was looking at hydrogen cars as they seem a good idea but the refill stations are far and few between

Ahh, the sting in the tail!
£40 billion shortfall if electric cars come in. itv/news/2020-11-16/...llion-tax-hole However the good news is Nuclear Power stations are firmly back on the map, probably Sizewell. That's Miss Morrow happy as she is working on Nuclear.

How are you supposed to charge an electric car if you live in a terraced house? I have no drive and park on the road. How does that work?

There are charging stations so it may mean not being able to park right outside your house but in a nearby street - I guess more and more charging stations will be introduced. I will take a photo of the one round the corner from on the a terraced street and post a photo later. Also many street lamps now contain a charging point It works very well here albeit means old parking practices have to change to new ones

I live in a rural area in the north and have never seen any charging points at all in the villages and small market towns.

Good news, looking at electric cars at the moment but as others have said were a little worried about range versus size. Many electric cars are a little small for our family and those that are big enough are poor on mileage so in 9 years time I'm expecting good things.

We're the same. We need a decent sized car to fit the family in. We live in a rural area, and our annual mileage is high. Need to travel for 3.5 hours to attend hospital appointments every couple of weeks. 50 mile round trip to the shops. 40 miles a day for the school run.
Electric cars are going to have to improve their range massively before we can consider looking at buying one. |
