Going off on a tangent here. We are researching my Wife’s Family Tree and last week we stumbled across a relative who died in the RAF in 1942.
Eventually we located his war grave and a photo on the Find a Grave website so identified him as a Flt Lieutenant. More research showed he died whilst flying an RAF Mustang.
I never knew the Mustang was built by the Americans for the RAF and only later in the War Curtis LeMay introduced it to support the USAAF as a long range fighter that could protect their bombers right into Germany.

Sorry I’m wrecking your thread.

Amazing fact find! 😍 Aah, don’t worry, you are keeping my thread alive 😆

Here’s one back for you Tom and off on another tangent - you may recall I’m Welsh and in mother’s bungalow we came across a huge Welsh bible which is over 150 years old with the most amazing coloured religious art throughout! It also had dedications and letters of identification in it so that’s what I’m going to do next! A bit of family tree investigating!

I have no idea if the bible is worth anything or actually belonged outside the family originally but we will have fun finding out I’m sure 😁

I used to dabble in antiques years ago and invariably found family bibles were worth nothing. However they can contain priceless information about the family history such as births marriages etc so to the individual concerned that are an absolute gem.
Happy hunting on that journey.

I posted on here some years ago we didn’t want my late Mums ornaments and they were just wrapped in bubble wrap out the garage. In the end I sold them at auction and bought some Lalique glass which she also loved.

I have had the same thought - the children won’t necessarily want Gran’s old “tat” so I will possibly sell as I go along and buy an individual gift for them both with a nod to Wales and their heritage 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I’m not quite ready yet mind 😉
