Hotel Chocolat

I was planning on getting a box for my daughter, my daughter in law and my Mum in law. I didn't realise they'd gone so expensive, £30 for the Sleekster box! 27 chocolates in those so over £1 per chocolate.
Now I'm in two minds about spending £90 on chocolate 😂

Just spotted on Hot UK Deals for £22.90 rather than £30. Still a crazy price.

I must have been living under a rock as I didn't know they'd gone so expensive. It was for an extra present as well. Think I'll get everyone chocolate oranges 😅 who doesn't love a chocolate orange . I can get six of those for £30

Good choice, £30 for something of no nutritional value is awful

I have received a £5 birthday off voucher so went into the shop today and noticed a significant increase in prices. The small packets (where you get 6 chocolates) are now £5.45, I’m sure they used to be around £3.00/£3.50.

Hotel Chocolat is my favourite chocolate but sadly I just can’t justify paying that much anymore. I was in their shop in Cardiff last week and they have some, very large, Christmas collections at £90 each! They were huge boxes and beautifully designed but still, £90 😢

Didn’t the founders sell the company last year? I can remember seeing the products being on sale in New York last Sept and thinking how great it was they had broken into the US market then read they were in discussion to sell. I love the stuff and spent by £5 birthday voucher in store last week but generally don’t get anything from them anymore due to the cost.

They’ve gone crazily expensive but I’m just not a fan. I’d rather have a bar of whole nut.

I really do love the ‘macarons’ they sell.
Fairly sure they were bought by Mars.
On a dull note, the increases are fairly small in comparison to the increase in raw ingredients. A friend is a chocolatier and I think due to a poor harvest, there’s been a 90% increase? Something like that.
I appreciate that doesn’t make it any more affordable.
