I don't know if it's rose-tinted glasses but one of my favourite parts of Florida holidays was going out for massive breakfasts, Ponderosa, IHOP, Denny, Wendys etc. I was convinced it was always really cheap but if I go with our family of four for an iHop breakfast it's circa $80-$100 for the four of us. We hardly ever go now and do most breakfasts in the villa. If I'm going to spend that on a breakfast, I'd rather go to a fancier place, like Keke's which is almost the same price but much nicer.

It was really cheap. We used to go to ponderosa and sizzler. On 1 trip they both kept reducing their prices. They got down to $2.99/2.79! Generally they were always under $5 for years. (I’m going back 20 years here!)

Remember the old Ponderosa midway up on I-Drive... cheap as chips... remember one time a English family on the table next to us all whispering and then calling over a server and complaining about some of the food... the manager came over and listened to their complaint... apologised and said that they did not have to pay for anything (this would have been late 90's so I imagine the bill would have hardly been a lot anyway)... you could hear them almost High 5'ing as the manager walked away... the coup de grace was as they was leaving the Mum going to the food bar and filling up her bag with muffins and fruit ... never have I been more embarrassed to be English.

We are glad we popped in there on our last trip. Also have happy memories and made a good friend in server Bonny who had been working there for years Wasn't the same without her.

Wander what will happen to the gift shop that was joining it?

As a kid, I used to love exploring the gift shops after a Ponderosa breakfast! It was always busy and full of great things! Remember my dad trying to coax me and my mum out so we could get to the parks.

Now as a father myself, we went in to some of the gift shops on the 192 a couple of years back and it wasn't quite as exciting as I remember it!
