Best thing you brought for a baby/toddler

Making a list of everything we need to bring for our 11 month old in January and wondering what things people brought for babies and toddlers that were particularly useful? And also things that you maybe wouldn’t bother bringing again?

- Pram fan (never been in January so not sure how hot it'll be!).
- Lots of snacks/food from home.
- Ear defenders. Came in handy for evenings at the park when baby had fallen asleep in the pram and we wanted to stay for fireworks.
- Baby carrier for the queues.
- Calpol (just in case)

I can't really think of any other must haves. We've been with our son at 8 months and 14 months, and neither time did I find there was anything we were desperately missing.

Calpol and favourite snacks for cranky moments.
Blanket for pram, nights can be cold.
Patience to copy, not with a cranky baby, but with the cranky adult who just needs to comment on your tired baby.
I took nappies, wipes, nappy bags and sudacrem because life is too short to be wandering shops looking for them.
Hankies because there will be moments when you are overcome by your own baby's cuteness.😍

Definitely bringing Calpol, and nappies because we went through pretty much every type before finding one that didn’t irritate his skin. We’ll be putting his clothes in hand luggage just in case so his checked suitcase can be just 90% nappies 😂

If your baby uses a dummy, then definitely buy a dummy clip! I bought a pack of 4 off amazon because I knew if we lost one in the parks there's no way we'd be getting it back (and on that note, extra dummies if your little one does have one).

In all honesty that's the only thing (aside from the likes of sun cream) that I remember thinking "I'm so glad I packed these".

I did also buy a 'pop it' that I could clip to her pram straps. She loved to fiddle with it and it kept her entertained for a few minutes here and there while we took turns to do rider swap. She played with it on the flight too and it only cost a couple of quid from primark. Something like this...

Two very little things but two things we found useful, nonetheless. Enjoy, it will be the most magical time. DD was 12 months old when we took her last September and it was wonderful

Cooling pad for the buggy and a buggy fan. Also plastic plates and spoons, cup - saves China plates being flung on the floor! We would never get the mozzie sticky pads ever again because one fell off while we were looking after the baby and he was chewing it without our seeing what he was doing. My daughter got them in JoJo Maman Baby - I was so upset.

I just wanted to add that we found the baby care centres really great for a bit of downtime in the parks. I think myself and grandad looked forward to going in there!😂

If you take your own car seat, pop it in a car seat bag for check in, which you can buy off Amazon, then also put some nappies in with it to save on luggage allowance in your cases.

Also baby centres I’m the parks are a lovely place to take some time out from the park.

Our daughter was 18 months old when we visited last year. Things we loved:
- stroller fan (best purchase)
- cool bag. We bought big ziplock bags in Walmart and filled them with ice from ice machine. We used the cool bag for snacks and food.
- disposable bibs
- wipes and desinfecting wipes
- always a change of clothes in the park bag
- we loved having our skip hop changing pad as you can save the nap pies and wipes in there too so we would hang it on the stroller for easy access

The baby centres are amazing. You can get water in there you can heat their food and feed them. You can go for a quiet space so they can nap. We would stop in them often!

Hope this helps

For us her sleeping bag. It's hot obviously but in the nice AC bedrooms, was still needed. We also found suitable food hard to come by in the parks so brought a cool bag. Filled it with suitable food and snacks everyday with a freezer block in the bottom of it.

As already mentioned a pram fan is a must. Also a buggy that's not massive and can be easily folded with one hand. We also used a sheep skin liner at that age. Make sure you take plenty of nappies as they are expensive in the US. We had a toy that had a sucker on to stick to tables. This was great on the aeroplane and also to bring out in restaurants as they can't fling it across the room/under a neighbouring table/in someone's dinner!

We also used non-spill snack pots. This looks to be the current version(I bought ours from Poundland) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Munchkin-Pi...07HZM7KW2?th=1

Board books were great on the plane for my 12month old daughter but when my son was 14 months he really wasn't interested. You will know what type of toy will occupy them most but don't take loads. Many of the toys we took were left redundant in the room as they were so interested in the colours/lights/sounds of everything around them or napping because they were exhausted from the stimulation!
