Impatiently waiting for August dates with Virgin to become available but following the BA prices with interest.
We have open dates tickets to use with Virgin but could potentially use those the year after if needed.
Fingers crossed for some decent prices.

No problem. We’ve paid £5,600 for 2 adults and 2 teens. 1-19 August, LGW-TPA direct, Group S car and 4 bed villa at High Grove. It’s more than we would normally pay booking separately, but given the uncertainty (and that we were extremely fortunate to recoup all monies from our cancelled trip this year), we opted to book everything with BA. I was hoping to get under £5,500, but having tracked prices since schools break up (22 July), I couldn’t get any lower than what we booked for.

The sale seems to be very poor for Florida. Last year we booked a flydrive to MCO for 3 weeks for £2700. If only!

Yes - that's BA, although since booking this morning it's increased by about £300. It includes luggage.

Just catching up with this thread. We checked again last night with barclays and they confirmed that the only date that matters is the date of travel. If the FCO have lifted restrictions when we travel then we will be covered even if we catch covid while out there. Only thing they wont cover is cancellation due to covid so we have spent today researching and have bought a policy through stay sure that covers cancellation due to covid. Annual policy for a family, worldwide cover was £150. happy to swallow that for complete peace of mind. My friend is with Barclays and has been told that she is covered for travel to europe if FCO advise against travel but she still goes. This is only valid if you booked when the advice wasnt in place. That really surprised me.

Anyone with Nationwide bank for their travel insurance? What's their stance?

I did ring them, but they just confused me - not sure if that was their plan!

Hmm, they definitely told us that it’s the date of travel that matters not if you booked when FCO advised against travel. It doesn’t really impact us now as we have booked another policy where covid is covered so we are good to go.
