Thanks

There's no really bad seats in UC What aircraft are VS planning to allocate to the flight? All my UC experiences have been on the 747's but I'll try to help

If you know the type of aircraft you can put the type + virgin upper class into Youtube and see videos people took which should help. If it's the A330-200 I'm almost certain there is a 2 seats in the centre vs one seat on the aisle. The A330-300 has the same layout as the 747 so for that perhaps you'd want to avoid being near the galley or the toilets so you're not disturbed too much

You can also use seat guru or the vs source website which both have seat maps. Personally I prefer the latter as SG can be out of date at times.

The odd numbered pairs in the middle are called 'love seats' as when flat they are basically a double bed. The even numbered pairs have space in the middle between. So, for 3 adults and a child I'd go for something like 2G,2D and 3E,3F (an even pair and odd pair) unless someone really wants a window. You can see the seats in this review and see the difference in the odd and even numbered pairs. The individual seats have a lot of privacy but maybe too much for a family group?

The 747 isn't like the A330-300! The 747 was the best UC layout, smaller cabins and 11K & 12K were my favourite.

The seat map is here, I would stay away from galleys and toilets and consider whether your 11yr old is happy in front or behind you or if you want to go for 5G, 6G & 5K layout for example and then conversation and seeing each other across the aisle is possible.
