How much does it cost...

to run a 60watt for an hour? I am considering getting some sensors so lights only come on when a room is in use but at an average of £5 each I am not sure if this makes financial sense.

It depends on tariff and efficiency of bulb but roughly if you have a 60watt bulb on 5 hours a day it will cost 1p per month.

I'm sorry but that's incorrect. It's approximately 1p per hour.

60 watts for 5 hours a day is 300 watts - multiply by 30 days = 9000 watts. Depends on your tariff how much you pay per kWh but ours is 15p per kWh so it would cost £1.35 per month to run a 60w bulb for 5 hours a day every day.
