Improvements!
We went to DLP on New Years Day for 4 days and I have to say we noticed some improvements from previous trips, the characters although still not in roped off areas seemed much more aware of queue jumping, children being pushed in by parents and were selecting children that had been waiting. I would not say it was perfect but a significant improvement on previous trips. Although there was a few people trying to queue jump on the rides it was much less than we previously encountered and again seemed to be picked up and people removed from queues. The ticketing to meet the princesses meant we were able to see them which we could not do in the summer so hopefully they continue this process moving forward.

What ticketing system have they done for the princesses?
I can still never understand why they don't just have more rope queues...it's hard explaining to a 4 yr old who has been waiting in line patiently why we aren't getting any closer to the front... Hopefully they will keep improving it |

Rather than just queue up they give tickets out at certain times i.e. 11.45, 13.45 and 16.00 that give you a time to visit the princess. Only one family member has to queue for a timeslot so others can continue to use the park. My DW waited for 45mins before the slot opened to get a ticket and we waited 10 mins to see the princess so it was much less than the two hour wait it was in the summer. They did close the queue for tickets once it was full so you had to get there in plenty of time.

They do have some formal roped off greeting areas, we just stick with those and ignore the characters that are in a less formal arrangement. The ones with a proper queuing area work exactly the same as they do in Orlando.

No you have to queue again to see another. The separate Rapunzel was not there but the background still was so hopefully it be back in the summer. Belle was outside so we waited for her about 45 mins.
BevS97 we also used to avoid the ones not formal but this time it was much better and we saw Timon, Smee, goofy and Jessie like this. |

We liked the arrangement with the Princesses too. We managed to see more than one in a day, we wouldn't bother in June due to the queue, but like the ticketing system, you just need to get in the queue for the ticket in advance, so they don't run out. We actually found we moved through the inside queue so fast we didn't get time to look properly at the details inside.
We have only ever done 2 of the random meet'n'greets, one was for Daisy Duck in Disneyland Parc near the Bella Notte, we had been looking for her for several days and been told where to find her so that was it, we held back and she was great, spent a good few minutes with DD1 and dragged Donald over to join us so we got both of them at once. The other was Jack Sparrow, which really was bedlum, but DS really loves him and wanted to see him, I had told DH to hold back and he did, Jack spotted him and came over to him, past the pushy kids and parents, and apparently spent quite a while chatting with DS. Hanging back does work, most but not all of the time. Worst we have had was in October though as DS really loves Captain Hook and he was out with the Villains for Halloween in the Castle Courtyard, we tried but couldn't get close, he was really acting the part and playing around so was very entertaining, but very few children actually got an autograph or photo with him. I do think they are making an effort to improve this aspect of the park though, which can only be good. |
