You could walk a mouse across it?

Some one has just said this on Call the Midwife when handing a cup of tea to someone. What does it mean? Assume it’s to do with the tea strength! I’ve never heard it before!

Had a search on google and apparently it means that the tea is dense/strong enough for a mouse to walk across without sinking.

It made me chuckle too, one of my great uncles used to use that expression years ago. I love my tea quite strong “builders brew” type tea😉 can’t abide tea that looks like watered down milk🤨 that’s how my sister makes her tea.. as though it didn’t even touch a tea bag or leaf.

My Dad always used go say “strong enough to trot a mouse on it” or alternatively “strong enough to stand the teaspoon up in”
