Thumbs up Best park for Day 1?

Hey Everyone

This is my first post, and I just would like some suggestions for the best park for day 1 of our Orlando Epic Holiday!

We are travelling on Tues 9 April on the virgin 11.15 from Gatwick and will get into resort I imagine around teatime that day (staying at Bahama Bay resort about 25 min drive from main parks - as suggested will unpack get some supplies in and eat then get our heads down. Taking our 2 girls who are 7 and 11, That first morning from what I can gather its an early starter but some tend to flag in the afternoon. Its also my daughter's 7th birthday on that day so was thinking character breakfast and MK for the day - but would that be too much on the first day? Looking at the park guide its a green/quieter day to go then too.

We will have universal, seaworld and disney tickets for the 14 days so our options are open!

Suggestions please would be very much appreciated

Have never been this excited - ever!

If it was down to me I'd go with MK character breakfast- lets face it, the kids will have visions of that castle in their minds when you mention Disney. You are right in thinking you will flag in the afternoon, so we always head back to the hotel then, take a swim maybe, bit of a lie down and you'll be refreshed for evening . Tiredness always hits us for the first 2 or 3 days until your body clock adjusts and you end up waking at a 'normal' time.

This was our plan too. Breakfast at Crystal Palace followed by MK. We will probably stay until after lunch then head back to the villa for swim and sleep before headin out in the evening.x

If MK is a quiet/recommended park for that day I would definitely go there!

We're planning on making it our first park this year with character breakfast at Chef Mickeys first

Although the last time we went we did HS on the first day as it was a recommended park, which was also fun and meant that my then 5 year old son had his dream of becoming a Jedi come true on the very first day

Would agree with the above post. On your arrival day try to stay up till 10pm if you can manage it then you will hopefully sleep a bit longer.

You will probably all wake early the first few days so take advantage and get to the parks early.
I would also advise to go to the Magic Kingdom on your first day-personally I would take the ferry across, there's nothing like seeing the castle coming closer, especially your first time.

Unquestionably, it has to be Magic Kingdom for your first day. It's what it's all about.

Enjoy !

We do universal as its an easy park and there's not a lot in it. I'm a Disney person and don't like doing a Disney park on the first day because I am tired and don't want to leave a Disney park early. Universal studios is a park that can be done fairly quickly then we can leave and relax and that's universal studios done. It really depends on how you are feeling that day tiredness wise and what kind of parks you are into

We have always gone for MK on the first day, the castle is iconic and makes it all feel real... went to AK instead (at our friends request), never again, just didnt have the same feeling!

Enjoy your epic trip
