What date are you travelling from PHL-MAN - if we know that might at least explain why the downgrade has happened (although I suspect I know the reason already).

Thanks Boyle73 - AA have changed the aircraft from a 787 to a 767 for the summer schedule so that explains why there has been a downgrade - the 767 doesn't have PE.

Speak or tweet BA as soon as you can to see what alternatives they can offer and be "canny" as Mr Tom Morrow suggested - good luck.

OP. EU261 doesn't apply to a codeshare flight in your circumstances sorry.

So no 75% refund. But there is still the game to play. Go in slowly and see what they offer. Best of luck.

So they offered me a free cancellation or a change to any BA flight leaving in a 300 mile radius from TPA.

Said I’d have a think and chat with DH first and then decide.

Alternative flight options are the TPA to Man via LGW (gets us home for 4pm which is a bit late for us). Or MIA to Man via either Madrid or LHR home for 11am.

Husband wants to cancel and just book VS Y MAN to MCO for the same price as our PE flight.

Still gutted

We’ve just had a 6 hour drive home from LGW to Halifax and it was awful. Flight delayed 2 hours then it took us 6 hours to drive home. Won’t do that again ! Really spoils the end of your holiday when there are delays. Go the simplest or most direct route you can.

Hi,

Sorry about your predicament with BA/AA but I think the Virgin option would be better for you.
We were booked 22nd October on AA735 Man-Phl-Mco. Called to board the aircraft then they cancelled the flight. Just given a number to call after getting luggage back . Luckily the guy was really helpful but we couldn't travel until next day so ended up Man-Dub-Ord-Mco 26hrs.
American use a knackered old 767 on this route which , unknown to us then, is always being cancelled . No seat back Tv , broken seats , unusable toilets etc .
All I can think of is this may be a blessing for you both.

Take care

Thank you, a bit of research on the web has brought up a lot of horror stories.

We have flipped a coin and decided to go with Vs from Man, just trying now to decide whether to go to MCO direct or TPA via Atlanta.

Thank you again to everyone for their advice, it’s been helpful and much appreciated.

Lesley

Just been looking at alternative flights and Skyscanner brought up TUI on our dates and even with bags it’s under 2k.

Premium works out at £850 each which feels a good deal. Iam not a massive fan of Sanford but it’s better than indirect.

Finger hovering to book but wondered am I missing something? Only normally fly VS so Iam not clued up on other airlines. Last flew to SFB in 2001!

Is this a Dreamliner or am I going to be on some decrepit old plane? There’s no details saying what the plane type is!

Thank you!

Love tui and it should be a Dreamliner. A great experience when I flew with them last year in premium, better than virgin.

Sanford is fine, not much further out than mco. Much quicker door to door in my experience too.

You get access to the lounge ( rubbish choice but it's a seat and quiet) on the return journey
