san diego/LA to Yosemite? How?

Hey guys,

Is flying to Yosemite easy? and who flies there? Really want to go but boyfriend needs convincing! x

Also is that the nearest National Park? x

There is no airport right near Yosemite as such. You'd have to fly from San Diego to Sacramento, San Francisco or Reno - although Fresno is probably the nearest - then take a rental car. To drive San Diego to Yosemite is 441 miles and would take 8 hours.

We drove from LA through Death Valley to Yosemeti stopped off at Mammoth for a night but could have done it in the day. Tioga pass only opens at the end of June due to snow but is a fantastic drive into the park. End of June beginning of July is excellent for the waterfalls

We've driven 3 times from LA to Mammoth and visited Yosemite every time, if you can get to it, why not stay a couple of nights and do the 4 or 8 hour tours round the park they are so interesting.
