Do I need to be booking flights to LA before the Hollywood tower of Terror closes?
Or is it the same as TOT at Hollywood Studios?

It closes in January.
Just the same as the other TOT rides in other parks , well didn't seem any different to me. I can't say one ride being open/closed would affect my plans though or make me book flights. |

Excited about Disney

We have previously booked trips to various parks to enjoy parades etc for the last time (Fantillusion, SpectroMagic & Paint The Night) but ToT at DCA wouldn't be on that list for us. WDW version is better in our opinion because of the randomised drop sequences - DCA is similar to the Paris version if you've done that.
It reopened during our visit last week but seemed to have a fair few tech issues - rarely were all 6 elevators operating, which made the queues move slowly, even with FP when we were riding The last day is planned as 2 Jan'17 but according to Disney Parks blog they're doing a special 'Late Check-out' experience during Halloween time where it's in complete darkness! There will also be commemorative merchandise available.

If you have done the florida version you have done the best. The DCA one is a simple up and down with projections infront of your, none of the corridor sequence you get in florida. The effect of the drop is just the same however.
