We are going in June 2020 for 2 weeks, doing the following:

Calgary 2 nights
Banff 4 nights
Jasper 3 nights
Golden 1 night
Kelowna 1 night
Vancouver 3 nights

I have read it is best to drive the Icefield Parkway in both directions so doing that and splitting up the drive to Vancouver by stopping in Kelowna.

I need to research all the stops now to make sure we experience as much as we can

I would say it's probably NOT necessary to do the icefields in both directions. Yes you'd get a different perspective but it won't be THAT different in my view to justify it.

It's definitely spectacular but there's lots of other amazing things to see so unless it really fits into your plans then I'd just do the one way.

Don't forget a little stop at Lake Louise if you have time.

Xxx

Itinerary is coming along. I would second flying in to one airport and out of another.

We did a 3 week trip as there is just so much driving. We flew into Vancouver and out of Calgary.

Our itinerary was:
3 nights Vancouver (did some really good day trips in Vancouver area)
3 nights Tofino (loved Tofino)- great wildlife including giant starfish and banana slugs
2 nights Victoria
3 nights Whistler (really enjoyed Whistler and going up Whistler Mountain and the Peak 2 Peak Gondola over to Blackcomb Mountain)
2 nights 108 Mile Ranch (originally was going to be Gold Bridge but original choice of accommodation was being refurbished and this was a substitute - definitely not worth the big detour)
Clearwater - 1 night (breaking up journey) although we did find a nice nature walk and had some pool time
Jasper - 2 nights
Banff - 3 nights
Calgary 2 nights

We made the decision to visit Lake Louise from Banff which was a good call. Lake Louise was so busy - crowds thinned out a bit on the walk up to Mirror Lake.

Finalised basic travel plan, hotels agreed on, booking tonight. Then the real planning starts. I feel another spreadsheet is required!
