Disneyland + Las Vegas - where do I start?

We're thinking of a different holiday plan for next time - any tips on where to start?

We feel that LV needs about 4 days - how long do you think we'd need for Disneyland? I've seen on here you can grab a bus tour and get to Universal Studios too - we'd like to do this too.

I'm going to have so many questions - so will do a few searches & try to only ask questions when I can't find the answers on here - and will try to ask one question at a time to save confusion.

We spent 6 nights in Anaheim last year, this was plenty time to do the Disney parks, a bus tour to Universal, a day at the beach and a trip to the middle of nowhere to visit an Outdoor World store!
We pretty much managed to do a "park and a half" in one day... we then went back to the park we only did "half" of and spend the most of the next day there...finishing off with our favourite bits of the other park again.
We booked out flights with Delta originally and these were moved to Air France when Delta pulled out of Edinburgh ( pretty sure we paid around £400 each )

Hi there, I have been planning our West Coast trip (comprising LA, San Diego and Vegas + Graceland and NYC) for 6 months and the Dibb was invaluable!

In terms of where to start, I ordered the LA and South California Lonely Planet guide which was great for getting started. For booking I signed up to hotels.com and expedia.co.uk as they send codes through fairly regularaly plus kept an eye on smartervegas. Tripadvisor and the Dibb were also great for ideas of what to do and where to stay.

We decided that we'd spend three and a half days in San Diego for sight seeing, the Zoo (which everyone says is unmissable) and SeaWorld. San Diego is two hours by Amtrak from LA and on the way down is Legoland but unfortunately we don't have time (or $$$!) to go really. From San Diego we're going back up to Anaheim which is an hour from SD and an hour from Hollywood, roughly. We're staying here for 4 nights to do Disney. I would have liked longer but BF probably wouldn't tolerate more days. The main reason, however, for 3 days is due to the SoCal city pass which covers Seaworld, the Zoo, Universal (all for 1 day) and Disney (both parks) for three days - this is a pretty impressive deal so it's what we went for citypass/southern-california.

We're then spending a fair bit of time in LA as BF has work there before my friend comes and we go to Vegas - we also decided on four days, three nights. First night will be chilling and enjoying the hotel, second night going out, third night a show and then home. Btw there is sososo much to do in Vegas that doesn't include clubbing or gambling if that's not for you (e.g. 4-floor M&M store, Harley Davidson cafe, bellagio fountains, MGM lion enclosure etc etc). Getting to Vegas is an hour by plane and around 5 hours by bus but we've gone for bus (luxbusamerica) as the times they ran better suited us and they do pick ups from certain hotels/hostels which saves us money on getting to the airport. You can get really fab deals for Vegas hotels btw so definitely shop around.

In terms of accomodation in LA/Anaheim it is eye wateringly expensive compared to Florida or Vegas so do sign up for codes, shop around etc but unfortunately be prepared to spend more. Mmmm, so that's all I can think of to get you started! Hth xx
