It may be uncomfortable and not particularly nice in the heat, but I think death is a bit OTT.

Disney could think about "I survived the Skyliner.." t-shirts as a spin off
The only way these pods get air through them is if they are moving, the passive air keeps them at the same temperature as outside. If they stop no air will pass through and the temperature will rise. Mickey Views on YouTube we did a test the outside temperature was 87, when the pod was moving it was the same inside. It stopped for 3 minutes and it went up to 90. The pods are like a greenhouse, I wouldn't like to guess how hot it would get in 3 hours.

The zipline photo wasn't from this incident - it was apparently a fire department training exercise...

Some of those impacted by this incident said there was a breeze, so not totally dependent on movement and will obviously depend on conditions on the day.

I’m not suggesting it won’t be uncomfortable or warm being stuck in the sunshine, my point was more I don’t see people dying as a result as you’d initially put.

I totally see toddlers or more senior people stuck for 3 hours in a 110F full-on summer heat passing out / anxiety attacks (which would look very bad already for Disney) and yes potentially dying (heatstroke, heart attack induced by stress).

Exactly my point, we were at Alton Towers during the hot weather we rode their cable car fairly early in the morning and it was boiling in there when we stopped mid station. Not long after we got off they closed it because it was getting too hot in the cars. This could be Disneys biggest white elephant ever.

Unless and until they get aircon I'll just be watching them from the ground.

Remember this incident was at night and not in direct sunlight . Two very different situations.
In the day it'd be a lot hotter.

It's the USA - and Morgan & Morgan are one of Florida's biggest law firms. When we were in Florida years ago we even stopped watching TV a bit as every ad break had a Morgan & Morgan commercial in it. Then there are the ads on top of taxis & on the side of the buses "Our family protecting yours".

If you're ever bored in Florida, find a Yellow Pages & look at the ads in the Attorneys section & see some of the bizarre areas some specialise in!

As to Skyliner - it will definitely have a backup power source (normally a diesel generator) so that even if there is total power-grid failure, it can be run-off empty. The issue here seems to be a jammed car - it's no good having multiple power sources if the "road" is effectively blocked.
