London Luxury Foodie Trip 22/23 August 2008-Part 3
Saturday 23rd August 2008.
I woke at 7.37, without the aid of the alarm going off. Thankfully the sun seemed to be shining, we could just about see the blue sky from our window, by craning our necks to look upwards! We had been so lucky - no rain at all - there was rain yesterday, but we were in the hotel and it stopped before we needed to walk to the theatre. We got ourselves up and showered and left the hotel by 8.25. We walked to Bond Street Station, where we got a travel card - 30% off as I have the railcard. We got on the Jubilee line down to London Bridge. I forgot to print off a map to show me where to go to Roast, but it was VERY easy. We found it, in the middle of Borough Market. You take a lift up to the first floor, where you have a good view over the whole of the market - really looking forward to having a look round here after breakfast. We were 30 mins early, but the restaurant wasn't busy, so we were able to sit down straight away. It was very bright in here and I had the sun directly in my face for about 20 minutes. The restuarant from our seat. I was slightly torn as to waht to have for my breakfast - there were kippers on the menu and I adore kippers, but thought that I might smell of them for the rest of the day. So opted for Tattie Scones, streaky bacon, field mushrooms and a fried egg. The tattie scones were a little strange, but all in all a very tasty meal. Ian went for the full breakfast - what a surprise! This had 2 sausages (lincolnshire) streaky bacon, black pudding, grilled tomato, mushroom and a huge thick slice of fried bread. We also asked for bread (for Ian) and toast for me with Marmite. I like to eat my egg with marmite toast! They didn't charge us for that! We also had pink grapefruit juice and a coffee. It was all delicious - and not fatty in any way as it was grilled, well apart from the eggs! The kitchen. View from the reception area of Roast. Roast. |

Contd...
Here are some more photos of the market - we didn't buy anything as we had to carry it around all day - I fancied some lovely Stilton type cheese - can you imagine the smell after a few hours in the heat. We loved the market and have said we will have to drive up one Saturday and buy a load of stuff and then have breakfast and go home!
