I'd be more surprised if you haven't seen mice before having GP's! They are not doing any harm so please don't start putting down poison or slug pellets both would only kill hedgehogs in the long run.

I noticed yesterday when clearing the shed that we have one in there. I haven't seen it yet but there are a lot of droppings in there and a lot of stuff shredded. My granddaughter said I must not kill it so I will buy a trap that just catches it [hopefully] and then let it go by the canal.

At least it wasn’t a mouse on the stairs... with clogs on...going clip clippity clop.
Sorry couldn’t resist 🙊.
We have found a dead rat in our garden...it had drowned. Or caught by the cats living around us. 🤷
It has freaked me out a little that you say they love decking.
But I believe all of us don’t live far from at least 1 rat... think I should stop reading this thread 😱😱🤣

I have a mole in my garden. I have to go round in the mornings and tread my plants back in where he has tunnelled under the roots loosening them. Any ideas how to get rid of him please?

Decking encourages vermin. Once it has been down a year take it up and realise you will never put it back.

I didn't know we had mice in the garden until the cat brought (several) alive ones into our bedroom as presents! *rolls eyes*

I have to rescue several of them and re-distribute into the garden away from the cat ...

Does anybody know if the mouse (mice &#128561 would cause any issues with the guinea pigs?

I’m not too bothered at having a mouse outside but would be if they came in. I’m also concerned about them passing anything nasty to our pigs.

Today is the first time I’ve seen a mouse or any evidence of them. We put the original deck down about ten years ago and took the whole lot up last year and replaced. Still didn’t see anything.

I don’t know about guinea pigs but I think (I’m not a vet so not 100% sure) they can cause problems for rabbits if rabbits aren’t vaccinated against VHD. Which is a very horrible disease that is fatal to rabbits. As I say, don’t know about guinea pigs.

Edited to add: The only reason I think it might be something to be aware of is because my own rabbit died from this before I’d even heard of it and there were mice droppings in the cage. It might have been a coincidence.

Do guinea pigs need vaccinating? Maybe something to look into? Just as a precaution.
