I have no issue with paying for quality food and an exceptional dining experience but I think we have been spoilt slightly by my brother running one of the up and coming restaurants in London.

Before this holiday I had already said that we wouldn't be going back to WDW for several years but despite being disappointed I would go back next year and get the DDP again. I need to find the money to stay at the Polynesian next time but I think buying a food truck and changing career is next on the to do list.

I don't think I mentioned in my original post that we also did the buffet lunch at Tusker House and the food was great. I find it a bit odd that we thought the food was generally better in the buffet restaurants than elsewhere. I still wouldn't pay OOP for it though
We've recently finished a 7 day DPP stint, 6 of the TS meals were 'character' based that included Storybook Dining, which I thought was our best TS meal. Our choices were down to having our 7 year old GS with us. No way would I pay $54 to $59 OOP plus drinks and tips for these meals they are not worth it. Food quality ranged from fairly food to very average
You get much better quality and value off site. Snacks were good value at F&W.

What I will commend Disney on albeit they are very late to the party is the fact plant based food is appearing on the menus.

My Wife won't eat any meat that is barbecued or smoked and will only occasionally eat pork and steak. What she describes as offal namely fatty meat, pies and sausages etc are a no no. The fact they include chorizo in so many dishes means she also won't touch them

Invariably the only fish is salmon so she is quite happy with plant based food. To be honest I quite enjoy it as well.

I'm definitely with you on that, Claudette. I'd been looking forward to FF for years. I know that one visit to a restaurant where you have a bad experience doesn't mean it's always bad, but it definitely puts you off a return visit. Especially if you're paying OOP, which I will be on my upcoming trip. And it was not only the food, but the service as well.

They apparently replaced the fish with farmed Tilapia.

I had lunch at Skipper Canteen recently and thought it was the best service of my whole holiday. My server was friendly and helpful and stopped to chat. It really does depend on who you get

I'm one of the ones who bangs on about Jungle Skipper Canteen I absolutely love it. I've been there 4 times in total (twice this year and twice last year) and is one of the very few TS places I'm paying OOP for when I stay at POFQ next year.

The question I would throw out there is would people pay cash for all the meals and snacks they get for free on the DDP?

I don't mean an upgrade from Quick Service to Table service but the whole thing.

I lay odds this forum would be full of people moaning about the extortionate prices and poor quality

To be honest we are down to 3 places to eat at and pay cash and that's probably going to drop to 2 places.

I share your views entirely on this too.
