Should I expect tips?

Years ago my friend was a paperboy and just before Christmas he would knock on all his customers doors and say "merry Christmas from your paperboy." He usually did very well for tips with the odd misery saying "merry Christmas" and closing the door on him.

I am considering whether to do the same with the customers I've worked for this year. So I would knock on their doors saying "merry Christmas from your tradesperson."

I don't expect all customers to give me a Christmas tip, but even if some do then it's easy money.

Would you tip if your tradesperson did this?

Our paperboy sends us a card - we send him one back with a tip. He’s a good lad and reliable
However if a “tradesman” knocked on my door they would get nothing!

I’ll give you a tip for Christmas, MH.

Don’t mix grape and grain.

Also 3.15 at Kempton Boxing Day - Partridge’s Hope

Given how much you charge an hour and how long it takes for you be available to do any work its probably not cost effective
