Delta indirect to JFK ?.

We are looking to book a shortened trip just to NYC around April 2020 to replace our original trip which is cancelled for this October . Have never flown Delta but as we will have a fair bit of credit due we want to use them and fly Comfort plus. I can’t see any flights direct from EdI to JFK can see indirect via AMS and CDG anyone any experience of these and how long would you allow for the layover to catch next flight ok ?

United offer a direct service into Newark from Edinburgh. For dates 07/04/21 to 11/04/21 it comes in at £484 on Google Flights. It may be cheaper elsewhere..

Just a further suggestion. If you were to fly from Glasgow, rather than Edinburgh, then this opens up a rather good value alternative.

Icelandair fly via a 2 hr stop in Keflavik (10hr 20 total) into either JFK or my preferred Newark. For April next year it is coming in at around £483pp on Google Flights.

As for Delta, they are normally my airline of choice to the States, but I have never flown the route that you suggest.
I find them efficient, businesslike, courteous and with rather more mature cabin staff.

Very very easy! It can be quicker than JFK actually as less traffic (depending on where you are heading to?)

There are lots of options: taxi, shuttle, train.

If there are more than two of you taxi or town car will be most convenient and likely cheapest.

The bottom line is that JFK is south and East of the main, Times Sq area that most seem to prefer. It is around 18 miles by road.

Newark is around 13 miles to the West, but a less congested route also.

As in the post above re methods.

Hoping this helps.

For a transfer in Amsterdam you will stay in the same terminal and not need to go through any extra security. Anything over 40 minutes is achievable.

The edi to ams flight would be KLM I would have thought, then the ams to jfk would either be Delta or KLM.

To get to NY from JFK just jump on the train. Dead simple and cheap.

Thank you. We were hoping to use Delta just because we have credit to use but your suggestions are great 😀

That was always my worry about accepting a credit note. We were fortunate to get a cash refund from BA when our March flights were cancelled. We were fortunate to get the same when we cancelled our August flights with American, just a fortnight ago.

Whilst this good service in awkward times is noted and might affect choice when prices or options are similar, it wont deter me from taking a better deal elsewhere.

Perhaps you can hold your credit note into the future and until times are better. (I dont know the date on it). They may also convert it to cash if you now say that you will be unable to use it before the expiry date.
