LGW cancellations for BA, am I entitled to refund?
Good afternoon everyone,
Maybe a daft question but im a little clueless with flights really. We have flights in December to Orlando with BA (5th to 19th) and I can see that BA are now cancelling the flights as they won't be flying out of Gatwick, I believe you can rebook from Heathrow. Is this compulsory and if I don't want to go from Heathrow, can I expect a refund? Hope this all makes sense as I really don't want to go to Orlando this year, Im too scared and want to wait until next year if possible. Thank you all |

Have you booked flights only, or a package, OP?

I cannot answer for BA but flight only with VA the change of airport is classed as a significant change and therefore the customer can ask to be refunded and they do.
However a 'holiday' is different. I suspect BA is the same but others who use them will know.

We too are booked with BA on the 5th from Gatwick! Have you had an email confirming cancellation? I haven't heard anything yet.

My understanding with BA is if you have booked flight only, the change from LGW to LHR is classed as a significant change and you are entitled to reject the change and ask for a refund.
If you have booked flights plus car hire, or flights plus accommodation, you actually have a package holiday and in that case, the change from one London airport to another is not considered significant and you are not entitled to cancel and receive a refund on that basis only. Debra

Thank you all for your help, hopeful of a refund when they cancel. I havent had a cancellation yet but i dont think it will be long as they have cancelled later return flights into Gatwick for others.
I wouldnt mind flying out of Heathrow as its nearer but really dont want to travel there this year (totally disappointed that we wont be going) but feel next year or 2022 my be easier. |
