Smoking at DLP - The Official Line

This post is not intended to start a pro vs anti smoking debate. With that out of the way, I had recently provided DLP with feedback on our recent visit (trippie will come!) - and the downside was the prevalence of smoking at Disneyland Park. They sent me their response today.

So, for the sake of clarity, and in the hope this puts the whole smoking at Paris issue to bed once and for all, here is the official line from Disneyland Paris HQ:

...we have adopted a pro-active stance in our long terms plans to minimise smoking at the Resort... Since 2006, we have banned smoking in all restaurants on-site. In addition, cigarettes are not in sale in Disneyland Park or Walt Disney Studios, and we actively discourage smoking in closed queue lines.

In open queue lines, we cannot prevent smoking, but Cast Members and signs do encourage guests not to smoke...In addition to this we have designated smoking areas which are indicated in the Park Guides.

However, in accordance with French Law, we are unable to prohibit guests from smoking outside these areas.

So, to summarise:

• smoking is banned in-doors
• there are smoking designated areas
• Cast Members will try to stop guests from smoking in open-air queues
• French Laws mean Disneyland Paris cannot place a blanket no-smoking ban in the parks.

Therefore, as far as possible, smoking is kept to a minimum but it cannot be banned completely.
