The One Where The Kids Are No Longer Kids - Day Nine, 09/09/16 We Go On. Moving Forward Now As One..

This morning we decided to have a bit of a lazy morning, we gathered up some communal washing to put on as we were all starting to run low on underwear (I didn't account for the two pairs a day due to the mid afternoon dip in the pool, shower, clean clothes back on routine). The machines work by swiping a credit card, took us a few minutes to work this out, I was shocked as I had selected a coloured wash and it told me it would only take 45 minutes, the same wash at home takes over 2 hours!

Whilst the washing was doing its thing we went to sample the buffet breakfast in the hotel which was a very good idea as it was lovely.
The Mickey waffles were huge and cooked to order, they were very good but not as good as the real things of course. There was far too much choice and again we couldn't sample everything.

By now the washing had finished and we had a hour to kill waiting for the driers to finish so we sat chatting around the pool area. Gathered up the dry washing and got chatting to a very nice Chinese lady who was on her first visit to Disney with her young family. They had been to Epcot the previous day as was our park of choice for today, I asked her what she thought of illuminations... eh? Illuminations?

We told her about the fireworks, asked her what time they left the park, 9pm she said, but that's when illuminations starts I said. Nope, they had no idea... how can you go to Epcot and not know, they start announcing it from about 8pm! There's planning and there's not having a clue, she was very lovely but she fell into the latter category, still she assured us they would check it out next time.

We went off to Epcot on our own and planned to meet up later with the gang for our soarin' fast pass.

First stop has to be a hug with Baymax

Then to meet Joy and Sadness, I love Joy's body language in this photo.

Then off to club cool, yuk! I just had to try it, I made hubby try it first without telling him, I'm sure it sucks all the moisture out of your mouth it's that bitter!

We all met up in time for our Soarin fastpass, hubby has terrible motion sickness so we didn't want to risk it and he sat this one out, the rest of us loved this, no matter how hard I tried not to I still lifted my legs up over the top of the Eiffel Tower! I'd have loved to ride this again and again but didn't get the chance to.

We then made a start on the World showcase and started with Canada. We gawped at the price of some of the lovely jumpers in here!

Someone had drawn hopscotch outside the Rose and Crown in U.K. so the 'kids' were playing hopscotch, someone came running over with Mickey stickers as a prize for being the first people to actually play hopscotch today! We laughed at the prices of the boxes of quality street and Soreen in the U.K. shop. But I expect other people laughed at us as we bought their overpriced tea bags!

We had a mooch around France and didn't give into temptation in the boulangerie or the ice-cream shop
We meandered around Morocco, I couldn't go in the shop as they were burning incense, I'm not sure why but incense gives me an instant headache but we sat and cooled off in the shade here.

About an hour before Illuminations we grabbed a bench just before Italy and made friends with this little guy.
Kids and hubby went off to Germany to buy some bratwurst for tea followed by ice-cream from Italy for dessert. We then sat chatting whilst waiting for illuminations.

We stood and watched Illuminations which is stunning and very moving. The last time we were at Disney we never had a chance to see this. We had a cast member next to us who said that he loves watching people's reactions when they see illuminations for the first time, it keeps the magic alive. He certainly picked the right group for emotional reactions!
I've discovered that Kellie Coffey sings the song We Go On, but I can't find it on Spotify or anywhere to download, I can listen to it on you tube though.

We wearily made our way out of Epcot humming the soundtrack, hopped over the glistening and sparkly paving stones by spaceship earth and took the bus back to the hotel for a well earned good nights sleep.

I love Epcot! When the kids were small I always felt that we rushed around and didn't get a chance to take everything in, but when you take the time to slow down and explore it's amazing. Illuminations can't be missed and the soundtrack is perfect. Try bribery!

We are eating at the Yacht Club resort then walking down to Epcot gateway to see Fireworks, so I am hopefully going to see them!

We were watching the Simpsons last night and they got to go to Orlando for a teacher presentation, they were all guessing which theme park it was and getting really excited - then they found out it was EPCOT! It was so funny, they were all gutted! I still love it myself, have told hubby he can drop me off and go to Space Centre which I really don't care for. Boring!
