Another shout for Here Now Maps app too, you can download the maps. I downloaded the florida map, so it ment that I never used my data as long as you have the GPS it works great and saves on the battery usage

I take it Here Now maps are apple only as i cant find in the android store or is it an apk. download job.

Can I suggest Waze? waze

It is free, owned by google and uses real time data from google maps.

I use it on a daily basis in the UK and find it is excellent and has a better interface compared to google maps.

I used the Google maps over the summer and simply downloaded the map of orlando so I could use it for free and without data. It worked perfectly and could not have managed driving around without it.

When you say you downloaded the map of Orlando do you just go on google maps on iPhone etc and zoom into Orlando area on the download section or is there a actual download file somewhere. I've just downloaded my area at home so will check it out on way to work if I've done it correct

Yes you just resize the square over the exact area that you want to download, and then press download.

Brilliant I've done that now over cheshire area will be leaving and will trial it by having the phone turned on aeroplane mode so I know it's not using data. Can you In out destination without internet connection as long as they are in the re sized download area.

Yes you can input any destination as long as its in the square you download
