Hertz gold : free additional driver & cadilac xt5
Booked with hertz for august. Before making the booking i joined hertz gold and booked it through that. Does this automatically give an additional driver free? Was just reading through my reservation and under the section NOT INCLUDED it states additional driver 😐
It was the only reason i joined the gold club Also booked the cadilac xt5 through the french site at a good price. Anyone been recently after booking this and what did you get? |

Hi
You can only get spouse or partner as a free additional driver. It’s not automatic you have to get them added to the agreement at the desk in. The garage. I’ve found that the staff are not very good at knowing how to add the free driver and in some cases will tell you that it’s OK but the contract clearly states that the only automatic extra driver is a company employee. If your lucky and manage to get a manager who knows what to do it will be added but I’ve now give up arguing the toss as my DW has never driven in the US. Stand your ground and get it added to the agreement if it’s important to you. There was another thread regarding the XT5, My reply is #11 with my experience of collecting a XT5 on the French deal https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/sho...1076429&page=2 Alex Edited at 01:16 AM. Exactly the same for us, over several years.
I've had all sorts of cut & pastes of internal T's & C's from them but the Rental Record they print and give you is quite specific that no one else can drive the car. I asked what I would show a cop if we got stopped and DW was driving and Hertz's best answer was "it'll be fine"! |

Hi
Yes it’s a big problem and I’ve never managed to get Hertz to confirm this in writing. Tried email, snail mail and Facebook to no avail. The one and only time I managed to get the additional driver was when I picked up at the Champions Gate Hotel but it took about 30 minutes to get it sorted-so I know it can be done. I’ve tried at MCO but have always given up as no one seems to know how to process it. Alex |

Hi
Very confused. When I went Hertz.com to check the wording for authorised operators I found this info when I searched additional drivers “How would I add an additional driver if I am a Gold Plus Rewards Member? If the person to be added on is your spouse, domestic partner or coworker, they are considered authorized operators and can operate the Hertz car without being added on. However, if they are not your spouse, domestic partner or coworker, you and the additional driver will need to go to any Hertz location to sign an Additional Authorized Operator (AAO) form to legally operate the Car. There is an additional fee for each Additional Authorized Operator (AAO).” hertz/rentacar/custo...search=Drivers But unfortunately the T&Cs for additional drivers at MCO still state, “Authorised Operators Acceptable Authorized Operators age 25 and older are automatically covered on the Rental Agreement. “Authorized Operators are: - The employer, employee or fellow employee of renter on company business, (when booking includes company Corporate Discount Number). - The renter's spouse for rentals that originate in California or or Iowa. - Authorized Operators do not have to be present at time of rental. - There are no fees for Authorized Operators.” You could always chance taking a copy of the search result as proof of additional driver but I would be very cautious about doing this as the T&Cs you sign says otherwise..
